LUCIO CAPECE

Lucio is an Argentinian musician based in Berlin currently focused on the perception experience. He performs mainly solo and in the context of occasional collaborations based on the same interests.

We represent three of his solo projects:
Elemental Pulse, Epimoric Tide and Space Tuning Conditional Music
and four of his collaborations: Hemisphere, I Lost Myself in Finding You, Para Atras and a duo with Ben Vida.

His compositions may include improvisation and many different ways of writing. He uses tools like flying speakers attached to balloons filled with helium and moved by propellers. He works with speakers as pendulums, analog synthesizers, sine waves and noise generators, drum machines, ultraviolet lights, sensors but also the instruments as bass and soprano clarinet or saxophone.

Beyond instrumentation and tools, the main intention is to focus on the physical-social-spatial human experience.

Until 2010, electroacoustic improvisation focused on quietness, attentive listening and granular material remained in his field of interest.

Lucio has been very active in the reductionist improvised music scene in Berlin, and in the radical minimal scene related with the collective Wandelweiser collaborating mainly as member of the collective Konzert Minimal (2008- 2018) and, since 2006 with Radu Malfatti.
In that time Capece developed a 10 years long collaboration with
legendary Finnish musician Mika Vainio from Pan Sonic, working and
releasing radical abstract and beats oriented music as a duo and two
other quartets.

Capece has performed his sound interventions in many emblematic spaces as well as important festivals and venues dedicated to experimental music in Europe, USA, Japan and Argentina.

Beyond the previously mentioned collaborations, Capece has played
live or released albums with musicians like Mika Vainio, Olivia Block, Radu Malfatti, Kevin Drumm, Keith Rowe, Vladislav Delay, Lee Patterson, Annette Krebs, Moe Kamura, Toshimaru Nakamura, Taku Sugimoto, Julia Eckhardt, Cat Lamb, Ilpo Vainsanen, Rishing Singh, Mattin, and others.

As a performer he has worked with Pauline Oliveros, Peter Ablinger, Antoine Beuger, Michael Pisaro, Christian Wolff, Phill Niblock as part of the Ensembles Q-O2 from Belgium, and Konzert Minimal from Berlin, together with the musicians Johnny Chang and Koen Nutters.
